Seven medical malpractice complaints have been filed against a prominent Indiana cardiologist, according to a recent media report. The complaints were filed with the Indiana Department of Insurance.

The complaints allege the doctor misdiagnosed heart conditions and subjected patients to unnecessary heart procedures that caused severe injuries, according to the media report. The cardiologist has been treating patients at hospitals in Indiana for more than 30 years,

Attorneys for the doctor say he has always been “committed to providing quality care to patients.”

The alleged unnecessary procedures included heart catheterizations and stent implants. One of the patients received more than 20 stents in less than two years. A medical expert quoted in the media report says he has never seen such a high number of stents used in one patient.
