Bio

Jerry Garau has been pursuing legal claims for individuals in the state of Indiana for more than 30 years. His practice is devoted solely to helping individuals injured as the result of the negligence of others.

Jerry is originally from Martinsville, Indiana. He graduated summa cum laude from Franklin College in 1983, and received his law degree, cum laude, from the Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis in 1986. Following graduation from law school, Jerry clerked for a year for the Hon. Patrick D. Sullivan of the Indiana Court of Appeals. After completing his clerkship, Jerry entered private practice with the Indianapolis law firm of Price & DeLaney.

Jerry is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, recognized as the leading trial lawyers organization in the United States. Fellowship in the college is by invitation only and is limited to no more than 1% of the total lawyer population of any state. Jerry is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, an invitation only organization of trial lawyers devoted to preservation of the right to jury trial guaranteed by the 7th Amendment. He also serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, and is a Fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation.

Jerry has an active trial practice and has obtained substantial verdicts for his clients. He has also handled multiple appeals and has presented oral arguments to the Indiana Court of Appeals, the Indiana Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

In 1997, Jerry and four other attorneys opened a new law firm focused on representing victims of medical malpractice. That firm, now known as Garau Germano, P.C., has its office in Indianapolis and pursues cases on behalf of injured patients throughout the state of Indiana. In addition to his medical malpractice work, Jerry also represents plaintiffs in personal injury and wrongful death litigation.
